What's Cookin' Wednesday?

- Garlic & Herb Bread -

I stumbled upon this recipe when looking for something yummy to accompany our homemade pizzas for Easter dinner. It is super quick, easy and best of all tasty! It taste wayyy better than store bought garlic bread too!

Ingredients:

1 large cob/french stick/loaf of Italian bread (your choice!), 1/2c unsalted butter (softened), 2 large garlic cloves (minced), 1 heaped tsp parsley, 1/4c parmesan cheese (optional).

Method:

#1. Crunchy style:
1. Preheat oven to 180C.
2. Cut loaf of bread in half, horizontally.
3. In a small bowl, mix butter, garlic, and parsley together. Spread mixture over the two bread halves.
4. Place bread on lined baking tray and cook in oven for 10mins.
5. If using parmesan cheese, remove bread from oven, sprinkle with cheese, and return to over for another 2-3mins. Keep a close eye on the bread as it cooks very quickly!
6. Remove from oven, allow to cool slightly, and cut into thick, chunky slices.

#2. Soft Style:
1. Preheat oven to 180C.
2. Cut 1 inch thick slices in the loaf of bread, not cutting entirely through at the bottom.
3. Prepare garlic butter mixture as above.
4. Spread 1-2 tsp of butter mixture in between each slice.
5. Wrap in foil and cook for 15mins.

This is just the thing you start to crave as the temperature drops. It is a perfect side to a warm bowl of soup, spaghetti, or slice of pizza
... mmmm ...
